Egg Donor Resource Tells Intended Parents: Try It On Us -- posted 11/03/09
CHICAGO (Nov. 3, 2009) – Donor Network Alliance (DNA), the unique Web-based resource that consolidates some 3,000 egg donor profiles from 18 U.S. egg recruitment firms, is opening its use to intended parents at no charge for a limited time.
“No other resource offers as many egg donor profiles in a single location as DNA,” said Nancy Block, of the Center for Egg Options, one of the service’s three partner-owners. “Our database is so easy to use and so extensive. We’re opening the doors to explore.”
The Donor Network Alliance (www.donornetworkalliance.com) database can be sorted by a vast number of parameters, guided by what the parents are looking for in their ideal egg donor. A sampling includes:
- Heritage. DNA includes 94 donors of Scandinavian descent, 22 who are Jewish, 18 Pacific Islanders, and 14 East Indians.
- Accomplishments. More than 500 are college graduates, 338 are accomplished athletes, and 118 are accomplished singers.
- Physical characteristics. Over 1,200 are 5’5” or under, and 239 are 5’9” or over.
- Experience. Included are 388 donors who have donated previously.
Users can browse DNA for free for 48 hours. While they can view photos and descriptions of egg donors, they cannot contact any donors’ agencies until they subscribe. Subscription fee is $49 for two weeks.
Donor Network Alliance is owned by The Center for Egg Options (www.egg411.com), Northbrook, Ill., Alternative Reproductive Resources (www.arr1.com), and ConceiveAbilities (www.conceiveabilities.com), both Chicago. Donor Network Alliance Hits 3,000 Profiles, Enriching Options for Intended Parents -- posted 10/01/09
Donor Network Alliance (www.donornetworkalliance.com), the largest single collection of egg donors represented by egg donor recruitment firms throughout the United States, today announced that its database of donor profiles has reached the 3,000 mark.
“It’s been a process, but we have now achieved the kind of critical mass that makes a difference to prospective parents,” said Robin von Halle, an owner of DNA.
Egg donors are a critical factor in alternative reproductive techniques. Recruited by agencies like those comprising the DNA network, they are compensated an average of $7,000 for their time and effort involved in the egg collection process. Many countries ban payments to donors or ban egg donation altogether.
Having a large selection of prospective egg donors in a single site is a boon to intended parents from a time and financial perspective. Rather than have to visit multiple Web sites and pay multiple registration fees to view a more limited number of candidates who may or may not meet their preferences, intended parents now have easy access to a wealth of options in one location.
A sampling of those options includes:
Some 1,238 are 5’5” or under, and 239 are 5’9” or over.
- Experience. Included are 388 donors who have donated previously.
“Donor Network Alliance is an exciting example of our industry working together to benefit intended parents,” said von Halle. “We represent a wealth of choices that will continue to attract more parents as well as agencies.”
Donor Network Alliance is owned by The Center for Egg Options (www.egg411.com), Northbrook, Ill., Alternative Reproductive Resources (www.arr1.com), and ConceiveAbilities (www.conceiveabilities.com), both Chicago. Proud Parenting: "Donor Network Alliance - The Wave of the Future of IVF & Ethics" -- posted 06/29/09
Donor Network Alliance - The Wave of the Future of IVF & Ethics
Submitted by Erickson Law on Mon, 06/29/2009 - 2:53pm.
Launched just three months ago, Donor Network Alliance has become the place to go for Intended Parents looking for an egg donor. For me, this refreshing, as this industry needs to work together, not against one another. In addition, it should help keep agencies complaint with the ASRM guidelines regarding donor compensation.
According to a recent article, "Through a unique and effective collaboration of egg donor agencies through out the United States, The Donor Network Alliance (DNA) - the industry's first ever web-based collective of egg donors - has quickly become one of the largest egg donation resources in the country with more than one thousand diverse and multi-cultural egg donor candidates."
They also add, "Populating rapidly with egg donor candidates across the county, the simple functionality of the DNA website not only streamlines the process, it also saves aspiring parents a considerable amount of time and money during an already difficult and emotional fertility journey. For participating agencies, it provides an increase in exposure and expanded opportunities for their donors and intended parents."
In addition, "Similar to a multiple listing for real estate agencies, the site includes listings from 20 different egg donor agencies. Prospective parents enter their search preferences—hair color, eye color, education level, race, nationality, religion, location—and out pops a list of potential donors, with their profile photos and a way to contact the agency representing them."
I think that this is a great opportunity for egg donor agencies, such as Conceptual Options, and Intended Parents alike.

Agencies Unite to Launch Donor Network Alliance: First-Ever Web-Based Collective of Egg Donor Candidates -- posted 03/03/09
A new Web site has launched that facilitates the search for egg donors by prospective parents undergoing alternative reproductive processes. The Donor Network Alliance (DNA) is the first and only consolidated source of egg donors recruited by multiple agencies across the United States.
Membership-based DNA was started by three competing Chicago egg donor agencies that saw the need to pool resources: The Center for Egg Options (CEO), Northbrook, IL; ConceiveAbilities, and Alternative Reproductive Resources (ARR), both of Chicago. “DNA is needed as the fertility field grows in size and complexity,” said Robin von Halle, president of ARR. “This has resulted in a proliferation of agencies that recruit egg donors, which makes weighing agency and donor choices more costly, confusing and time consuming for intended parents.”
The DNA Web site is the portal to a robust, searchable database of hundreds of anonymous egg donor candidates represented by donor recruitment firms of all sizes across the country. It is expected to house at least 10,000 profiles from participating agencies by the end of its first year in business.
For a nominal fee, subscribers have unlimited access to the database for the two-week usage term. They can search according to various parameters, from ethnic descent to eye and hair color. Searches can be saved. Favorites can be flagged. Each donor profile is posted alongside her agency, which can be e-mailed directly from the site for further information.
“It’s all about putting the intended parents in control of the egg donor search process,” said Nazca Fontes, president of ConceiveAbilities. “This helps them avoid excessive research of multiple agencies, tracking multiple usernames and passwords, and paying multiple usage fees. It’s a needed improvement of the customer experience.”
Nancy Block, president of CEO, noted that egg donor agencies also benefit in an environment where it’s costly and difficult to achieve differentiation. “DNA helps to level the playing field, giving participating agencies exposure to far more prospective parents through a shared site than they’d see individually,” she said.
