Australia: Surrogacy laws pass Lower House

Surrogacy arrangements are set to gain legal standing in New South Wales after legislation passed the Lower House.

The legislation allows for altruistic arrangements and enables couples of a child obtained through a surrogate mother to be granted parental rights.

The bill also sets age limits for birth mothers.

Chris Daughtry and His Wife Welcome Fraternal Twins Through Gestational Surrogacy

Chris Daughtry and his wife Deanna welcomed fraternal twins, who were conceived through gestational surrogacy, Wednesday morning, according to the singer’s website.

“Our family is overwhelmed with joy by these two precious gifts from God,” Daughtry said. “The babies are both healthy and resting. Thanks to everyone for their love and prayers.”
